Gym Who?

In recent years, we have been led to believe that we MUST have access to a gym in order to workout and be healthy. If there is anything that I have learned from my exercise experience, it’s that there is almost ALWAYS some way to get a workout in, no matter where you are.

Sure, gyms may have more options, equipment, and ways to challenge yourself. However, basic bodyweight exercises hold more benefit than many give them credit for. They can be performed in nearly every location, require minimal, if any, equipment, and can save you the time and money that go into a gym membership.

Furthermore, we are seeing through new research that your typical bodyweight movements like squats, lunges, pushups, planks, pullups, and more, contribute greatly to overall health and longevity. So, even if you have no equipment, exercise can still serve you in a massive way!

Personally, as someone who goes camping a couple times every year, I could very easily just put a pause on my workouts. Limited equipment, space, and motivation. However, I find that a morning workout creates momentum for the day ahead, so I continued to find ways to exercise, despite the limitations. Did I go out of my way to find a gym? Nope. I just walked down to the beach! Did I bring an insane amount of equipment? Not at all. All I had were a few kettlebells, some yoga blocks, and a resistance band, and honestly, I could’ve made it work without any of that!

Exercise is a gift for us all that helps us live a longer, healthier, happier life. You can move your body anywhere in so many ways. Without gyms, not only do you have more flexibility, but you are also engaging your brain by getting creative as you make fun workouts!

The best part… there is no pressure! We are led to believe that there is a perfect workout that will get you the perfect results. The most important question is “Do you enjoy the workout?” If you get to choose the exercise and movements that you love best, it’s creates a sustainable lifestyle that allows for many healthy years ahead of you!

By no means do I think that gyms are useless. They are great! What I want you to take away, is that you don’t need to by at a gym to workout!

So, the next time you don’t or can’t make it to the gym and feel like the all is lost for the day’s workout, think again! It may seem weird at first and make you feel uncomfortable trying to think of what to do, but discomfort fuels growth and ultimately is just another way for you to Raise the Rouf of your health!
