It’s hard to believe, but we are already nearly half way through the 2026 year! Through these first six months, we have all gone through many ups and downs that have ultimately shaped how the year is going for us. To this point, whether it’s been your best or worst year, it’s important to reflect on where we are at and stay focused on the present moment!
When the new year rolls around, there is often extra ambition to set and accomplish goals and change behaviors. However, as we get into the depths of the calendar year, things pick up. Schedules get busy, stressors continue to arise, we lose much of the motivation that once was there, and before we know it, we’ve completely lost sight of making progress towards a better us! It can feel impossible to recover, to get back track. So, we just sort of set it aside and wait until the next year rolls around, where the cycle can just repeat again.
So, how can we stay in touch with ourselves year-round, refusing to lose sight and motivation of the growth we want to make! Well, the solution lies in living in the present moment. Taking just a few minutes every day to journal, meditate, or anything you enjoy that grounds you in “today.”
Why the Sunrise Pictures?
You may have wondered why so many of the featured images around my page are of sunrises. Well, each of these pictures are ones that I took myself, and I believe they are a great representation of this present moment mindset.
The sun rises every single day, presenting a new beautiful display each one. Whether it is front and center or covered by a layer of clouds, it always “gets up,” a great representation of the brand new opportunity we have with each new day that we get to wake for.
For me, I find that admiring the sunrise in the morning is such an easy way to ground myself in the moment that is today. Whether it’s on a morning walk, taking a few deep breaths, or simply opening the curtains to let the light bleed through, taking in sunrises allow me to push aside stresses of the past and future and simply focusing on making the small choices to get better today, to “Win the Day.”
So, each sunrise image on this page serves a purpose, a reminder to all the we have this day. Yesterday is gone, tomorrow is not yet here, but today we have the opportunity to take action and make choices to grow ourselves!
Winning the Day
What I love so much watching the sun rise, is that it really allows me to channel my mind into the things I can do today. Not trying to change things that happened yesterday. Not anticipating or stressing about the “what ifs” of tomorrow. Getting better TODAY!
Believe me, I know it can be really easy to try to take everything on at once. However, living in this way makes you feel overwhelmed very easily and puts excessive stress on your body, which will eventually lead to burn out and you giving up. But, when focusing on this day and this day only, it makes your job, responsibilities, personal goals, and life itself so much more manageable and less of a burden.
We have 6 months left of 2026, giving us exactly 189 individual days to take small steps forward. Don’t worry about doing it all in one day. Small, consistent steps forward every day are much better than trying to take too big of steps every once in a while!
So, let me ask you, what can you do for yourself to win today, create a better tomorrow, and Raise The Rouf on YOUR health?
