Introduction
This post, as the recipe itself, will be simple and sweet!
One of the best drinks on a hot summer day is a cold glass of lemonade. Unfortunately, many of the store-bought powders and mixes are loaded with unnecessary sugar that only do harm to our body. In fact, many of these options don’t even have lemon in them! Crazy! That isn’t what we want to be consuming, or having our kids sell at their lemonade stands!
Using only 3 simple ingredients, I discovered a refreshing, healthier option to the mixes and powders, so that you can still enjoy lemonade, while also hydrating, doing our body a favor, and feeling confident about what we’re consuming!
The real lemon juice provides a healthy amount of electrolytes, such as potassium, great for hydration, and the honey acts a natural sweetener that also offers antioxidants that help to lower inflammation in the body. Now, I’m no genius for coming up with this recipe. This is just how lemonade should be!
Let’s Make It!
Ingredients: Water, Honey, Lemon Juice

Ratio: For the recipe, the base ratio is 5 cups of water, 1 cup of lemon juice (or 5-6 lemons), and 1/2 cup of honey.
Steps: Get yourself a nice pitcher of some sort. Then, in a separate bowl, warm up 1 of the 5 cups of water, whisking in the honey until it’s nice and dissolved. Finally, in the pitcher, add the remaining 4 cups of cool water, 1 cup of lemon juice, and your water-honey concoction! Mix/stir well and, if you can resist, place in the refrigerator to cool! Pour over a nice chilled glass with some ice cubes and enjoy!
Honey Content: The best part of this recipe is the flexibility it provides! Want your lemonade a bit sweeter? Do 3/4 cup of honey! Little bit less sweeter? Try 1/3 cup! These three ingredients are the base, but the customization is completely in your hands, depending on your preferences!
Recipe Yield: You also have the flexibility to half the recipe if you won’t drink a ton, or double it if you have a larger family! Either way, this is a perfect drink to prepare and have on hand throughout the week!
Sweating: If you’ve been sweating a lot throughout the day, you also have the option of adding a couple pinches of sea salt to your glass, replacing both your bodies sodium and potassium stores, the primary electrolytes lost when sweating!
Closing
Summer may be winding down, but it’s not quite over yet! Give this simple recipe a try the next time you’re craving a cold drink, and let me know how it goes for you!
Fueling your body right is winning the day. Winning the days raise the rouf of your health!
